Golf Bursary Program

The University of Ulster Golf Scholarship Programme is supported by both the R&A Golf Club of St Andrews and the Golf Union of Ireland (Ulster Branch). The purpose of the programme is to allow students to fully develop both their academic and golfing potential.

The Ulster Golf Scholarship Programme will provide a two tier support programme.  Our top tier programme funded by the R&A is ideally aimed at players playing off +1 handicaps and lower while our second tier which is funded by the Universities Sports Development & Services Department is aimed at scratch and above handicaps.

The services and financal support that successful applicants receive will be based upon their playing standard, potential, commitment and contribution to the Ulster golf programme. 

Golf scholars will be informed which of the following list of support mechanisms will be available to them and the level / extent of that support:
           
• Financial assistance
• Travel and subsistence
• Competition accommodation costs
• Professional golf coaching
• Physiotherapy support
• Psychology support
• Musculo-skeletal screening
• Fitness testing
• Strength and conditioning
• Comprehensive competition programme 
• Subsidised golf club membership

To be considered for the Golf Scholarship Programme, applicants should download the application form from the downloads section of the website and return it to golf programme manager at the address given by Monday 28th September 2009. 

For exceptional players, individual applications may be made to the R&A Golf Club for additional financial support up to £5,000 per academic year.  Further details of these R&A scholarships will be made available to successful Ulster golf scholar recipients.
